The Goal is Not Ahimsa — The Goal is Love
Ahimsa is the foundation, but transcendental love is the destination. How prasadam distribution embodies compassion beyond non-violence.
In the Bhagavad-gita, Srila Prabhupada explains that ahimsa — nonviolence — is far more than simply refraining from physical harm. As he writes: “Nonviolence means not putting others into distress… unless one elevates people to spiritual knowledge, one is practicing violence.” This profound insight reframes our understanding of compassion entirely.
Radhanath Swami echoes this sentiment when he speaks of compassion toward all beings — not just humans, but every living entity. True compassion extends beyond passive non-harm into active service.
As Sadhu Vaswani stated plainly: “All killing is a denial of love.”
At TH3 LOT, we demonstrate ahimsa through prasadam distribution in the villages surrounding Mayapur. Every plate of sanctified food we serve is an act of love, not merely an act of non-violence. We are not simply avoiding harm — we are actively nourishing bodies and souls.
The distinction matters. Ahimsa is the foundation, the starting point. But the destination is prema — divine love. When we cook with devotion, when we distribute with care, when we chant while we serve, we are practicing love in its most tangible form. A plate of prasadam carries within it the intention to uplift, to connect, to share the mercy of the Lord.
This is why our mission extends beyond feeding the hungry. We are spreading divine love through service — one plate at a time.
